Partner with Veterans
Clearance Divers are among the most highly trained personnel in the Australian Defence Force. When they transition to civilian life, they bring skills that few workplaces ever see.
Partnering with NCDT means connecting your organisation with capable, disciplined and dependable people.
Why hire a Clearance Diver?
Royal Australian Navy Clearance Divers operate across some of the most demanding environments in defence. Their careers span mine clearance, explosive ordnance disposal, ship boarding, counter-terrorism support, and special operations. They work under pressure, make decisions quickly, and carry responsibility for the safety of those around them.
When they leave the Navy, those qualities come with them.

Commit to interviewing veteran applicants
One of the most practical ways to support the Clearance Diver community is to make a commitment to interview veteran applicants when they apply for roles in your organisation.
This does not mean a guaranteed outcome. It means a fair opportunity. Many CDs are highly qualified for roles in industries including construction, engineering, maritime, project management, security, emergency services and logistics, yet their applications can be overlooked when civilian HR teams are unfamiliar with ADF experience and rank structures.
If your organisation is open to interviewing veteran applicants, let us know. We can help you understand how ADF experience translates to your sector and connect you with candidates through our network.
This is not a formal recruitment agency service. It is a community-to-community connection, facilitated by people who know the CD community well.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you are new to engaging with the veteran community, it is natural to have questions. Below are the ones we hear most often from employers and organisations exploring how to get involved.
Do we need to hire someone to get involved?
No. You can support the community by committing to interview veteran applicants, connecting with our network, or becoming a sponsor. Employment is one pathway, not the only one.
What industries are Clearance Divers suited to?
Their backgrounds are practical and wide-ranging. Roles in maritime, construction, engineering, project management, security, emergency services, training and logistics are common pathways. If you are unsure whether your industry is a fit, get in touch and we can discuss it.
Is there a cost to access your network?
No. Connecting with our network through NCDT is free of charge. If your organisation wants to take a more formal partnership role, sponsorship options are available separately.
What is the difference between partnering and sponsoring?
Partnering with Veterans focuses on employment and business connections within the CD community. Sponsorship is a formal financial or in-kind arrangement that supports NCDT’s programs and operations. The two can complement each other, but neither depends on the other.
How does this connect to NCDT's programs?
The CD Professional Coaching Program, funded by the NCDT Transition and Resilience Fund, supports CDs to prepare for civilian careers. Employers who engage with our network may meet candidates who have been through that coaching process.
I need financial support now. Is the scholarship right for me?
The scholarship funds education and training costs. If you are facing immediate financial hardship, the NCDT Relief Fund may be more appropriate. Visit the Request Support page for details. If you are struggling personally, please reach out to Open Arms on 1800 011 046 (free, 24/7).
