Mr Luke Tavener

Luke Tavener is a former Clearance Diver who served across both AUSCDT ONE and TAG-E from 2002 to 2010. After successfully transitioning to a civilian career, Luke has found significant success in strategic and operational leadership roles within the defence, humanitarian aid, power generation and extractive industries both in Australia and throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Luke has led multinational teams in highly complex and culturally sensitive environments delivering exceptional outcomes in operational efficiencies and performance.

Luke maintains significant expertise in areas of program and portfolio governance delivering efficiency and cost reduction strategies underpinned by robust risk management. An influential relationship driver, Luke’s strengths lie in strategy development and implementation, senior stakeholder engagement, and empowering teams through a balance of direction and autonomy. Luke has led organisations through significant cultural change and strategically aligned corporate and site-based workforces to unified outcomes.

Whilst continuing to work in the corporate environment, Luke has the pleasure of managing a large veteran program for Boral Australia that focuses on mentoring, support, networking and community to aid current and ex-serving servicemen and women transition to civilian employment.

Luke holds a Master’s Degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and Project Management (MPM) from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Project Management with the University of South Australia. Luke maintains active professional memberships with the Australian Institute of Company Director’s (MAICD), Institute of Quarrying Australia and Australian Institute of Project Management. Luke is a passionate Legacy Legatee with the Ipswich branch and currently resides on the PwC Skills for Australia Extractive Industry Reference Committee and Board of Directors for Legacy, Ipswich branch.
