About This Policy
The Navy Clearance Diver Trust (NCDT) operates through two complementary trust structures:
- NCDT Relief Fund (formerly the Navy Clearance Diver Trust) — provides immediate financial relief to serving and ex-serving Royal Australian Navy Clearance Divers and their families.
- NCDT Transition and Resilience Fund (formerly the Navy Clearance Diver Trust No. 2) — funds prevention programs, coaching, scholarships, and transition support.
Throughout this Privacy Policy:
- References to the Navy Clearance Diver Trust include both the NCDT Relief Fund and the NCDT Transition and Resilience Fund.
- References to trustees include the trustee, or the board of the trustee, of both trust structures.
- References to the Chair include the chair of the board of the trustee of the NCDT Transition and Resilience Fund.
- References to the Secretary include the Secretary of the trustee of the NCDT Transition and Resilience Fund.
- References to ‘us’, ‘our’ or ‘we’ refer to any and all of the entities and individuals described above.
This policy explains how we collect, use, hold, and protect your personal information. We are committed to managing personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Personal information you provide to us may also include sensitive information. This covers health information, racial or ethnic origin, political associations, religious beliefs, trade union membership, sexual orientation or practices, and criminal records. - Current and former serving Clearance Divers
- Supporters, donors, and sponsors of the NCDT

- Financial information of beneficiaries or potential beneficiaries
- Health information of beneficiaries or potential beneficiaries

- Administer the NCDT’s website and digital services
- Progress any application to become involved with the NCDT as a volunteer, trustee, or office holder

Direct Marketing
Where we contact you for direct marketing purposes, we will always provide a clear option to opt out of future communications. If you receive a communication from the NCDT that you would prefer not to receive, please contact us at secretary@ncdt.org.au and we will remove you from our mailing list promptly.
We use Mailchimp to manage newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address and subscription preferences will be processed by Mailchimp in accordance with their privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every newsletter.
Third-Party Platforms
We use a number of third-party platforms to operate our website and process transactions. These include:
- Stripe and GiveWP for processing online donations and payments. When you make a donation through our website, your payment information is handled directly by these platforms. We recommend reading their respective privacy policies to understand how your data is managed.
- Mailchimp for email communication and newsletter management.
- Google Analytics for website traffic analysis.
These providers are authorised to use your personal information only to the extent necessary to perform the services they provide to us. Some providers may be located outside Australia. Where your information is handled by an overseas service provider, it may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which that provider operates.

Some limited personal information required by trustees to conduct the business of the Trust may from time to time be held in the email accounts of individual trustees.
While we take reasonable precautions, no data transmission or storage system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of your personal information in all circumstances.
If you believe the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to correct it.
Additional Protections for Sensitive Information
Where personal information collected from individuals seeking assistance from the NCDT also constitutes sensitive information, we apply additional protective measures, including:
- Storing the sensitive information securely and restricting access to it
- Not identifying the person to whom sensitive information relates when assistance matters are considered by the trustees
- Limiting access to sensitive information that identifies an individual to the following roles:
- The Chair of the Trust
- The Secretary of the Trust
- The President of the Royal Australian Navy Clearance Divers Association
- In the case of a currently serving Clearance Diver, the Captain MCD
Accessing and Correcting Your Information
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, please contact us using the details at the end of this policy. We may need to verify your identity before providing access.
There may be limited circumstances in which we are unable to provide access to all information we hold. Where this is the case, we will explain why.
